- I teach at FCTS in Turners Falls, MA. Presently, I am working in the pre-employment program, a substantially separate program for students who could ultimately transition to a full or part-time vocational placement in one FCTS shops.
We focus on life skills, pre-vocational skills, and basic academics. All students in the program spend time working on the computer and more and more of our class time focuses on assignments that involve the computer. We use many online resources, along with AT to make learning more challenging and accessible no matter what the level.
When we are not working around the school or in the class I try to expose students to my love of the outdoors. For fun we did a snowshoeing class and spent time hiking along the Ct. River! We rigged up a sled for a student who is wheelchair bound - I think she laughed ALL DAY! They all love being outside as much as I do!
